But for those who are interested, there’s a wealth of information online on how to collect, process, and display specimens. I’ll include some methods I personally use with some practical tips I’ve learned along the way. Warning: Possibly graphic content.

So, you have a dead, smelly thing in your (legal) possession. But what you really want is a clean pile of this thing’s bones. We’ve all been there, amirite? Now you have to decide how to reliably rot your new, cadaverous cohort. While there’s more than one way to skin a cat (or in this case your dead thing), I typically prefer maceration.
It’s early one cold, Saturday morning and you’re out for a drive. A little ways down the empty road, you see an indiscernible lump on the right hand shoulder. You blink hard, trying to figure out what the heck it is. As your car cruises closer, you can make out the ring tail and masked face- another raccoon. But this one is different.
